The pain of not having closure, compounded by what has felt like antagonistic behaviour from the trustee, has been almost unbearable. Jonah’s absence feels even more profound with the estate still unresolved, despite further assurances that it would be administered in November 2018, acknowledgment that it was completed in February 2020 then again in June and July 2020.

Regarding an appeal, my main focus and commitment is to have the estate wound up and all transfers administered in accordance with Jonah’s will, as his widow, mother of our sons and sole residuary beneficiary of his estate.

Despite all, the media have highlighted the powerful people and industries that Brayley, Dhyreille and I Nadene have been up against hence the battle being soul-destroying.

“It’s been a bit of an emotional process,” she said. “Anytime when Jonah is involved it’s always an emotional journey for us. Even though we’re nearing the nine-year mark since his passing, it doesn’t feel like it. The way I keep up with these emotions is seeing the growth of my children. Canterbury has been respectful during this process, sending me updates along the way as the mural has progressed. It’s been a special journey.”

“Jonah was an inspiration to rugby fans around the world. He meant so much to so many, in particular our own Pasifika community and we are blessed and thankful to have the support of Nadene in having Jonah inducted into our PRHOF.

We know it's not easy for Nadene protecting Jonah’s legacy, but we are here to support her; we all are as the PRHOF community and we commend her for all the hard work she does in honouring Jonah” said Sir Michael Jones.
